Ray A. Collins

Born and raised in Cut Off, Louisiana, Ray graduated from South Lafourche High School in 1975, and he continued his education at Louisiana State University, where he attained a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (1979) and a Juris Doctorate/Law Degree (1982). Following his graduation from law school, he clerked for Judge Walter I. Lanier, Jr. on the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeals for three years. He then joined the Law Offices of Steven M. Larussa as an associate trial attorney, specializing in personal injury and insurance defense (for Allstate Insurance Company).

With this valuable trial experience, Ray chose to return back home, and opened his own private practice in Larose in order to provide legal services and representation to his local community, where he specializes in personal injury, real estate, estate planning, contracts and corporate law.

Expanding on his private work, he has served local institutions as an attorney— currently for the South Lafourche Levee District and South Lafourche Bank, and formerly for Lady of the Sea General Hospital (26 years), the North Lafourche Conservation Levee and Drainage District, and other local banks and corporate clients. His related experience includes his tenure as a member of the Lafourche Civil Service Board, as well as his extensive experience in insurance and personal injury mediation and as a trained domestic mediator. He offers his clients his extensive knowledge and experience interpreting insurance policies and procedures that he has gained over the years handling thousands of insurance cases during his 16 years as Allstate Insurance Company's outside appointed counsel.
